How to play Baccarat

Play James Bond's favourite game! The unique challenge here is to bet on the outcome of a game between the player and the banker - with the hand that's closest to 9 winning. You can bet on the Bank or back the Player in this quick fire casino classic. And if you're up for a thrill why not bet on a Tie to win a massive 8:1 payout.

Overview:

There are three different bets you can place in Baccarat. You can bet on the Player, bet on the Banker, bet on a Tie or any combination of these 3 options. The winning hand is the hand closest to 9.

Values of the Cards:

In Baccarat the cards are valued in the following way:

  • 10, Jack, Queen and King have the value 0
  • 2 - 9 have their normal value
  • Ace has the value 1

If the sum of the cards is higher than 10, only the second number is taken - so 17 is 7, 18 is 8. This also means that 10 and 20 count as 0.

How to bet:

You can place a bet on the Player, the Banker, a Tie or any combination of them in placing your chips in the respective betting boxes.

Select chip size: Select a chip denomination to play with by clicking onto one of the chips shown on the game screen.

Placing bets: Start by placing your bets. Clicking within a bet box will place a bet with the chosen chip size.

Removing bets: Clicking the "UNDO" button will remove the last chip placed.

Clear bets: Clicking the "CLEAR BETS" button will remove all bets from the table.

Deal: Clicking the "DEAL" button will start the game and the cards are dealt.

Rebet: Clicking the "REBET" button will repeat your bet from the last game.

How the cards are dealt:

The dealing of cards in Baccarat adheres to the following defined rules:

  • Two cards are initially dealt to the Player and the Bank.
  • If either the Player's or the Bank's hand scores 8 or 9 the hand is a "natural" and both hands stand.
  • If the Player's hand scores 6 or more then the Player stands and the Bank either stands if the Bank's hand scores 6 or more or has one more card dealt if the Bank's hand scores 5 or less.
  • If the Player's hand scores 5 or less then it has a third card dealt to it and the Bank will either stand or receive another card depending on the value of its own hand and the Player's third card as follows:
    • If the Bank's hand scores 2 or less then the Bank is dealt a third card, regardless of the Player's third card.
    • If the Banks hand scores 3 then the Bank is dealt a third card unless the Player's third card was an 8.
    • If the Banks hand scores 4 then the Bank is dealt a third card unless the Player's third card was a 0, 1, 8, or 9.
    • If the Banks hand scores 5 then the Bank is dealt a third card if the Player's third card was 4, 5, 6, or 7.
    • If the Banks hand scores 6 then the Bank is dealt a third card if the Player's third card was a 6 or 7.
    • If the Banks hand scores 7 then the Bank stands.

Formal Game Rules:

BACCARAT is a traditional Casino game based on the Punto Banco/North American version of Baccarat. The objective of the game is to bet on the winning hand or a tie. The winning hand is the hand closest to 9.

In order to bet the player must place chips on the applicable zone on the table ("Player", "Tie" or "Banker").

The game is commenced by pressing DEAL and this action being registered on our servers. Once the game has been commenced the game cannot be discontinued and the bet amount will be deducted from your account. On subsequent hands the game may also be commenced by pressing REBET. REBET places a bet equal to the initial bet placed on the previous hand and commences the game.

Hands in Baccarat are scored by adding the value of the cards in the hand. Numerical cards score their value, Ace scores as 1 and Face cards score 0. Hands are scored "modulo 10" - this means that if a hand adds up to more than 10 the tens digit is ignored so that the value always falls between 0 and 9 inclusive.

The dealing in Baccarat adheres to defined rules:

    • Once both hands have stood the result is scored and payouts are as follows:
    • Bet on Player and Player wins - 1 : 1
    • Bet on Banker and Banker wins - 1 : 1 less a 5% commission to the House (note that graphically this is shown as a 1:1 return. The 5% is deducted from the account balance)
    • Tie - 8 : 1

This game features six standard packs of 52 cards which are shuffled between each hand. The table limit (maximum bet per hand) is £500 (£100 for a tie bet).

This game is played over the Internet which is a communication medium that is known to be imperfect. Messages to or from your display device and the game servers may be lost or interrupted. If you have not commenced the game when you are disconnected, the game will not take place. If you have commenced the game when you are disconnected the game status will be recorded on the game servers and the bet will stand and the outcome will be reflected in your account status.

In the event of disconnection the records stored on the game server shall be the final authority in determining the terms of any bets you have placed and the circumstances in which they were made.

"Malfunction voids all pays and play" - in other words your bet and any outcome are void in the event of a malfunction.
